Launch of the Baltic Geopolitics Programme at Cambridge University

The purpose of this event is to launch and publicise the Baltic Geopolitics Programme which the Centre for Geopolitics has begun with the aim of increasing understanding of the geopolitics of the Baltic and the UK's role in it. The programme operates within the Centre’s European Orders research strand and details can be found here.

The event will be opened by HE Kersti Kaljulaid, the President of the Republic of Estonia.

Keynote introductions will be given by Professor John Bew, Professor David Abulafia and Edward Lucas, followed by a panel discussion.

The planned work of the Programme will be briefly introduced by Professor Brendan Simms, the Director of the Centre for Geopolitics and David Cairns will outline the opportunities to support it.

Professor Anna Mazurkiewicz and Dr Henrik Breitenbauch will explain the role and work of the Baltic Geopolitics Network, which informally connects scholars from leading universities and research institutes from across the UK and the Baltic area to build and disseminate knowledge on the international history and politics of the greater Baltic region, especially Britain’s role in them. Its founder members are the Universities of Cambridge, Copenhagen, Gdansk, Glasgow, Greifswald, Helsinki, Klaipeda, Latvia, Tartu and Uppsala.
